Backdating housing benefit claims
This change brings it in line with Universal Credit claims and means that if you have any change in circumstances that might affect your Housing Benefit you’ll need to report it quickly to make sure you get all the money you are entitled to.

You should apply for housing benefit and / or council tax support as soon as you can.
We may ask you to provide extra information about your reasons for not claiming sooner.
Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support is normally paid from the Monday after we receive your claim.
